Mistwalker CEO and Final Fantasy inventor Hironobu Sakaguchi casually revealed today that he was working on a nice pixel art game, which has sadly been discontinued.

“A pixel art project I gave up. The main character is, of course, a frog. You can use it as wallpaper for 2022″, tweeted Sakaguchi.

There are no further details. The look is reminiscent of Octopath Traveler. It is also not known for which platforms the game was in development. Looks like something we’d like to see, doesn’t it?

Hironobu Sakaguchi has been more present in the video game industry in recent months than in years. He published Fantasian, which not only received a million downloads, but also received a nomination in the “Best Mobile Game” category at The Game Awards 2021.

This week he revealed that Yasumi Matsuno (Final Fantasy Tactics) is working on a new scenario. It is not known whether he just wanted to celebrate his close friend or whether Matsuno is writing for Sakaguchi.
