Square Enix has confirmed that FFXIV will be unplayable for several hours when the support team rolls out Final Fantasy patch 6.05.

The good news is that the Final Fantasy team has confirmed how long the servers should be offline and when the new update can be expected.

It should also be noted that it’s not just FFXIV maintenance for Endwalker today as the Lodestone site will also be offline for a short period of time this week.

This won’t happen at the exact same time, meaning the game servers will be shut down first, followed by Lodestone.

In total, FFXIV maintenance is expected to take five hours, followed by the Lodestone services going offline for approximately four hours.

HOW LONG ARE FFXIV SERVERS EXCLUDED TODAY?

Square Enix has confirmed that FFXIV maintenance will begin at 5am GMT on Tuesday, January 4, and will last approximately five hours.

This means that the game servers should be back online around 10:00 GMT on the same day and updated to patch 6.05.

Meanwhile, Lodestone maintenance will begin at 6am GMT and end at 10am GMT, at the same time as FFXIV game servers are back online.

A message from Square Enix explains: “To implement patch 6.05, we will be performing maintenance on all worlds at the time below, during which FINAL FANTASY XIV will not be available.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we thank you for your understanding – 9:00 PM January 3, 2022 to 2:00 AM on January 4, 2022 (PST).

“Certain features in the FINAL FANTASY XIV Companion App will not be available until maintenance has ended.”

To accompany the release of Patch 6.05 for FINAL FANTASY XIV, we are performing maintenance on The Lodestone.

“During this time, users will not be able to login to The Lodestone. News and topics about The Lodestone will still be available to view.

FFXIV has become hugely popular in the past year, forcing Square Enix to stop selling copies.

This had nothing to do with Final Fantasy Endwalker terminal issues, but because of the popularity of the new content.

Unfortunately for anyone hoping to start playing the FFXIV experience this week, the game’s director Naoki Yoshida revealed why new restrictions had to be put in place.

A statement on the FFXIV explains: “Players are currently experiencing extremely long wait times due to the high concentration of gaming hours that far exceed our server capacity, especially during peak times, and so we have decided to discontinue the sale and delivery of FINAL FANTASY XIV Starter Edition and Complete Edition.”
