The release of a Last of Us Remake on PS5 is expected to take place, and a new report suggests the project could be ready to hit the PlayStation Store in late 2022.

While the game itself is seen as one of the best to launch on any PlayStation platform, the alleged remake is a little more controversial.

Rather than being based on the gameplay elements, gamers consider the launch of a PS5 remake too early, with the original making its debut in 2013.

While a TLOU remake might be too early for some, there seems to be little doubt that it won’t sell in large numbers.

The project is reportedly being run at Naughty Dog and could be linked to other major projects related to the franchise.

The latest news was shared by Tom Henderson, an insider who has provided accurate information for some major breakthrough stories in the past.

The latest news shared by Henderson suggests that TLOU Remake could be released later this year, along with this added information:

“Heard from multiple people now that the TLOU remake is nearing completion and could be released in the second half of 2022.

“With TLOU2 MP and TLOU 2, directors have cut – I’ve heard they’re coming too – but I’m not sure exactly when/how.

“They would all be released together if GOW were delayed to Q1 2023, but that’s just speculation on my side for now.

“But I think the overall goal here is to create hype for the HBO show, so we’ll see what happens — and to be honest, Q3/Q4 2022 for Sony is looking a little faint out. So we’ll see what happens!”

All reports and rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, but there have been plenty of other reports over the past year pointing to a Last of Us remake coming soon.

The Last of Us has already been remastered on the PS4, and this version can be played on the PlayStation 5.

Meanwhile, a TLOU remake would raise other questions away from improving graphics and performance and towards bigger changes that could affect gameplay and overall story.
