A remake of The Last of Us is in development and should be released in the second half of 2022. At least that’s what it claims Tom Henderson, freelance author at IGN, among others, with reference to several people.
The website VGC took up this statement and also reported on it, citing its own sources. Another indication is an April Bloomberg report that said a PS3 game was in the works for PS5.
The project is now personally supervised by Neil Druckmann at Naughty Dog, which will be at CES 2022 on weekends only saidthat “several projects” are in the works and he can’t wait to share them.
In addition, the multiplayer mode for The Last of Us: Part II has yet to be implemented, as well as a director’s cut for the sequel. That too tweeted Tom Henderson.
Those who prefer to see a new game will have to wait. In April 2021, Neil Druckmann said plans for The Last of Us: Part 3 were in the drawer, but no such game was in the works at the time.
The Last of Us was originally released for PS3 in 2013, before being released as a remastered version for PlayStation 4 about a year later.
