GTA 6 release date: good news for waiting Grand Theft Auto fans

Take-Two Interactive has more than 50 new game releases planned in the coming years, but it looks like GTA 6 will be the only one to arrive from Rockstar Games.

A new report shared this week claims that the famed studio and its smaller team are solely working on bringing the latest Grand Theft Auto game to PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The forecast was shared by gaming analyst AccNgt on Twitter, with a short Q&A session on the market.

This included answering the number of games that would be released by Rockstar Games on the current generation of consoles.

And ultimately, if that turns out to be correct, that’s excellent news for waiting Grand Theft Auto fans.

Rockstar Games already supports Red Dead Online and GTA Online and offers new content every few months.

And building what could be the most highly anticipated sequel ever in GTA 6 sounds like a challenging task, made for an entire studio to focus on.

Fans will certainly feel better knowing that no smaller games will hold back the production and development of GTA 6, which has already skipped the PS4 and Xbox One generations.

Though there might be a few disappointed Bully 2 gamers who were hoping for some sort of surprise reveal for the next generation.

The next Grand Theft Auto game is expected to release as a next-gen console exclusive, launching first on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Much of this is due to past projects and Rockstar Games’ tendency to focus on console ports before PC.

So far, the company and development team have provided little guidance when it comes to the final release date of GTA 6.

Predictions so far range between 2023 and 2025, meaning we’re still years away from a new Grand Theft Auto product hitting the shelves.

2023 seems to be the earliest we can see GTA 6 become a playable game, available on a number of different platforms.

Financial analysts have predicted 2023 could be the year, meaning the game is unlikely to be announced by Rockstar Games later this year.

That said, AccNgt has also predicted that a Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 port could be announced later this year, meaning fans may have to wait a little longer for that big GTA 6 reveal.

And fans are also cautious after the release of the new GTA Definitive Edition collection.

Graphics performance issues and gameplay bugs led to terrible reviews, and while gamers are still desperate to play the next GTA game, they don’t want it to be rushed and faced with the same issues.

Fans are expecting a release more akin to Red Dead Redemption 2, with Rockstar taking its time to launch an impressive and enjoyable open world adventure.
