Video shows the game with the original camera of the PS1 classic

For a while Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade available for PCs on the Epic Games Store and of course that also opens the door to the modding community. A fan submitted and published a new video. It shows what the remake would look like from the original camera perspective of the PS1 classic.

“This is a proof of concept and should hopefully inspire the modding community to make Final Fantasy VII Remake fully playable with a classic PS1-FF7 camera,” says the video description.

“The fights should just switch to the remake camera style. Only the exploration should take place with the classic camera, that would be so cool,” says the author.

Perspective has pros and cons

Indeed, the camera perspective has its charm. On the one hand it is of course close to the original and fans can still enjoy it a bit. On the other hand, this unusual perspective in the remake makes it clear how close the game has remained architecturally close to the original. At least in those first few scenes of the game.

However, the camera perspective of the original also closes in on many small details of the remake, which of course the developers put a lot of work into. You can’t see everything from a bird’s eye view.

But if anything, it would be a mod anyway. Would you like to see it? Until then, however, Square Enix should be working on the PC version again. The PC version offers “one of the few options screens” from a major PC release in recent years, according to the Digital Foundry.
