Apex Legends Dark Depths event
Apex Legends developer Respawn is about to launch a brand new in-game event.
The next Apex Legends event has a release date of January 11 and a launch time at 6pm GMT UK.
The Dark Depths event will be crowned with the release of a brand new map, titled Habitat 4.
“The waters of Storm Point may look clear, but our Legends know danger lurks in them,” reads a message from Apex Legends.
Channel oceanic myths and folklore and discover a brand new Arenas map called Habitat in the Dark Depths Event.
The recently released Habitat 4 map is described as one of the smallest islands in the New Antilles archipelago.
It’s also a breeding ground for Leviathan, not to mention a research area for studying the giant beasts.
“It represents our vision of an arena established in a natural environment, while staying true to the tent poles of the arena design.
That said, one of the main features of Habitat 4 is a large waterfall. Over time, the landscape has eroded, creating trenches and terraces of varying heights. This makes this island a paradise for water slides and quick escapes.”
In terms of strategy, players can either aim for the higher ground, or sneak into the undergrowth.
The higher elevations include areas such as the Nest, which are home to giant Leviathan eggs that provide great cover.
Then there’s the Cave, which is said to provide a sense of security and protection, not to mention opportunities for medium-range and close-up combat.
You can also use the Cave’s waterslide to escape or travel faster to the Nest.
In addition to the new map, the next Apex Legends update will introduce a series of Flash events and new skins.
Since the event lasts for three weeks, players can unlock a new set of prizes every week.
Week one’s prizes are Apex Packs, an Epic Holospray, and a Load Screen, while week two’s rewards include the Valkyrie Epic Holospray and a Dark Depths Pack.
Keep playing in the third week and you’ll receive the Epic Revenant Holospray, Epic Alternator Skin, and Epic Revenant Skin.
Respawn continued, “The new themed event introduces 40 new items around the Dark Depths theme. Dark Depths items can always be crafted using crafting metal. After two seasons, the crafting metal cost of Dark Depths items can be reduced.
“To preview/view what the new items are, players can go to the in-game themed event tab.”
