The PUBG servers will be offline for nearly two days this week as Krafton prepares to launch it as a free-to-play title.

The good news is that we know exactly when PUBG won’t be available to play and when everyone can jump back into it.

Krafton hopes the price change will help bring fresh blood into the game, which is declining on platforms like Steam.

But even without the F2P change, PUBG Battlegrounds remains one of the biggest on Steam and is hugely popular with its hardcore player base.

One thing to note about this maintenance window is that it will happen on all platforms simultaneously, with test servers also affected.

A message Krafton adds to the major update launching this week in PUBG: “Hello, survivors. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS has moved forward across platforms to share its unique Battle Royale experience with a wider audience.

“With our free-to-play transition, we want to further expand our community, provide faster matchmaking and the opportunity to meet more opponents. After the transition to free-to-play, the BATTLEGROUNDS Plus account will be added and all players who owned PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS and played before the free-to-play service transition will automatically receive the PUBG – SPECIAL COMMEMORATIVE PACK.”

“We look forward to sharing our unique Battle Royale experience with more survivors. Please see the Free-to-Play announcement for more information about the transition to free play.

“Please note that maintenance time may take longer than usual as we will update each platform’s store and give out rewards to our existing players.

“The Test Server will close together with the Live Server Maintenance. Due to the transition to free-to-play, the 15.2 Live Server will be maintained simultaneously on both PC and console.

HOW LONG ARE PUBG SERVERS DISABLED?

Krafton has confirmed that the PUBG servers are down now and will go live on January 12th.

Live & Test servers will undergo approximately 38 hours of maintenance while the game transitions to F2P, starting Jan 10 10:00 PST/Jan 10 19:00 CET/Jan 11 3AM KST.

No end time for the maintenance has been confirmed as it could take longer than the initial prediction, and there’s a good chance gamers in the UK will wait until January 13th to start playing again.

More news is expected to be shared by the PUBG team as we get closer to launch time on January 12th.
