God of War is coming to PC this month and the development team at Santa Monica Studios has revealed when gamers will be able to preload on Steam.

Not all games on the platform come with the option, which allows pre-ordered customers to download before release day.

This means you can start playing as soon as the game launches, with God of War’s release date slated for January 14th.

And today, Santa Monica revealed that they would be making the game’s preload option available on Steam on January 12th.

The official date and times are as follows: Preload for Steam begins Wednesday, January 12 at 8 a.m. PT.

For gamers in the UK, this means God of War will need to be preloaded on PC at 4pm GMT, while the game will also launch on the Epic Games Store, with no preload confirmed.

And Santa Monica has also confirmed a list of special features that will launch alongside the PC edition of the popular game, including the following:

Using NVIDIA’s revolutionary Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) software in combination with their exceptional RTX GPUs, players can experience God of War running at higher resolutions while maintaining high frame rates. DLSS used [MU1] machine learning to upscale game resolution, giving you stunning image quality without sacrificing performance.

When you’re up against your toughest opponents like Sigrun the Valkyrie Queen, how quickly you can react to her attacks can make the difference between life and death in a fight. With NVIDIA Reflex, gameplay responds to God of War (2018) for PC with reduced system latency across generations of NVIDIA GeForce RTX and GTX GPUs (NVIDIA Reflex is supported on GTX 900 series or better).

We’re also happy to support AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), so our players with AMD GPUs can take advantage of their visual enhancement technology!

Higher resolution shadows, improved screen space reflections, improved Ground Truth Ambient Occlusion (GTAO) and Screen Space Directional Occlusion (SSDO), in addition to highly detailed resources and rendering solutions ensure that God of War on PC will be a beautiful, sharp visual experience.

From the frozen wasteland of Helheim with its jagged, icy terrain and haunting green skies to the lush Lake of Light in Alfheim, whose shores harbor exotic plants and crystal-clear waters – the mythical and stunning environments of God of War will shine on PC as you travel through it on your quest.
