Completing games can become work these days if you want to get to 100%. Meanwhile, there isn’t just one main quest or strand, but the developer studios are building in various side missions or collectibles, which should serve as long-term motivation. If you look at titles coming out this year, you see this “problem” in Dying Light 2 Twitter has announced the studio, that you have to invest more than 500 hours in the game if you really want to see and experience everything. Your annual vacation might not even be enough for that.
It might be nice that development studios try to keep players happy for as long as possible and implement appropriate motivation in the game. But isn’t it an exaggeration if it feels more like work than fun? Of course, it can also be fun to find collectibles in the nooks and crannies of the world and to complete many missions. If these are spread more or less carelessly in the world, one wonders why they exist at all. Then you could have left them out.
What is your opinion on the subject? Will you take the 100% challenge and try to complete every little quest or find every hidden object? Or are you more of a person for whom playing the main content of a game is enough? And then the game ends up on the shelf. Tell us in today’s Sunday question!
