It’s not Nintendo’s first building, but it’s a very early building and probably the best known. The building in Kagiyacho, Kyoto, with the famous “Nintendo Playing Cards” plaque at the entrance. From a time when Nintendo was still mainly known for cards.

We already reported in January 2020 that this building would now be converted into a hotel. The refurbishment is now complete and the hotel bears his name Marufukuro baptized. The name is not a coincidence, but a reference to Marufuku Co., Ltd – that’s what Nintendo was called before it was called Nintendo.

From now on you can – in theory – book a room in the new hotel Reservations. Prices start at 100,000 yen per night for two people, which is about 775 euros. Juicy. The opening will take place on April 1, 2022.

Marufukuro uses both the old office building and a newly built extension designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando. The hotel offers 18 rooms (originally 20 were planned) – seven of which are suites. Each room is individually decorated.

Under the leadership of Hiroshi Yamauchi, Nintendo started in this building in the 1930s to become the company it is today. You can find some pictures of the new interior at game watch.
