After the new Steam release and the clear statements of intent, the time has come: the classic El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron also appears for Nintendo Switch.
Developer Crim, in the form of producer Sawaki Takeyasu, got the good news on Twitter Delivered† There is also a new announcement trailer. Further details, perhaps including the date, will be published in an 11th anniversary livestream on April 28.
El Shaddei did not get off the ground on the mass market at the time, but garnered a lot of fans and acclaim. The game got its art style from Sawaki Takeyasu, who also made his mark on games like Devil May Cry, Okami or the spiritual El Shaddei sequel The Lost Child.
El Shaddai combines multiple genre elements including detailed storyline, anime style, action, strategy and platforming. The story is inspired by the apocryphal Book of Enoch and follows the seven fallen angels. The goal is to prevent a major flood from destroying humanity. You are supported by Lucifel, a guardian angel.
