Does the new PlayStation Plus pique your interest?

Recent articles

PlayStation Plus is an integral part of Sony’s current video game model. The service not only “gives” players new games every month, but also gives video game users access to cloud storage and online multiplayer. A few weeks ago, Sony announced it was expanding and merging the branch with PlayStation Now. In the rumor mill this was called Project Spartacus.

With the above transition, older PS Plus customers will not notice any difference in basic services. Sony just changes the name to PlayStation Plus Essential. The price of 8.99 euros per month can go up to 59.99 euros per year and the previous services remain the same.

PlayStation Plus Extra players will have to dig a little deeper into their pockets. At 39.99 euros for three months and 99.99 euros per year, the “extra” not only costs more, but also offers a catalog of 400 of the “most entertaining PS4 and PS5 games”, including “blockbuster hits” from the PlayStation Studios Catalog and Third Party Vendors.

If you want to play an additional 340 games, head over to PlayStation Plus Premium. This allows you to play PS3 games that are made available via cloud streaming. You also get access to a catalog of popular classic games from the first generation PlayStation, PS2, and PSP. The premium version costs 16.99 euros per month, 49.99 euros for three months and 119.99 euros for the annual subscription.

That all sounds promising, doesn’t it? In any case, the premium version could be of interest to players if they want to play old classics from previous generations. Or is the price for this service a bit unreasonable? It’s possible that none of these services will appeal to you, too, and you’ll be thinking, “Who needs PlayStation Plus?” Tell us in today’s Sunday Question!
