Today Bloomberg awaits in the person of Takashi Mochizuki with an interesting article On. According to these, Sega reboots for Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi are in development — and on a big budget. They even want to penetrate into the realms of Fortnite. That actually sounds a bit crazy. According to Mochizuki, the statements come from people who are familiar with the plans.

Crazy Taxi comes out in two to three years and has been in development for over a year. Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi are part of it the new “Super Game” strategy to be. A year ago, Sega also officially presented plans for what to do with old and unused brands: remasters, reboots and remakes. In the annual report, Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio were the first brands mentioned for the unused IPs. Exciting.

Incidentally, part of the “Super Game” strategy would be to generate ongoing revenue and build online communities around the brands. Hence the Fortnite comparison.

As is well known, Sega also works with Microsoft to promote aspects such as “global”, “online”, “community” and “IP usage” in a strategic partnership. In concrete terms, this concerns the Azure platform, a cloud solution. It is emphatically not about exclusive games.

So will Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi really be reborn as big online games soon? The puzzle pieces seem to fit.
