Square Enix teams up with Prime 1 Studio figure experts to create a Final Fantasy VI Masterline figure to publish† Anyone who knows Prime 1 Studio and the Masterline series knows that these figures are not only high quality, but also very expensive. Check out Cliff from Death Stranding.
The statue depicts Terra riding a Magitek, with a moogle standing proudly next to her. Yoshitaka Amano oversaw the production herself. He was once the concept artist for the original game.
Square Enix first revealed the character in October 2021 and today they revealed the edition, price and release date known† Even Hironobu Sakaguchi has to hold on to that.
Square Enix is asking 1,485,000 yen including taxes, which is 10,700 euros. You read it right. The statue will be produced in a limited edition of only 600 pieces worldwide and is scheduled for release on July 28, 2023. 150 of them are destined for Japan, distribution in the other countries should change depending on demand.
Hironobu Sakaguchi quoted the announcement tweet, commenting: “Yes, no. Even compared to the cost of making dioramas for Fantasian. Isn’t that a bit much? Are you okay with Square Enix?”
It doesn’t help that Yoshitaka Amano calls the character in the video “very impressive.” Pre-orders start on April 25, 2022 in Square Enix eStore be possible if you want.
