The history of the Ys series, like that of Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy and Shin Megami Tensei, dates back to the 80s. This joins the Nihon Falcom franchise in the list of great JRPG veterans.
To date, the series has a total of ten entries in the main series, as well as numerous remakes and remasters that have been gradually released for more modern systems.
You now get the latest offshoot with the one originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2005 Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim† After a PSP version in 2006 and a Steam version in 2015, the recently announced mobile version for iOS and Android devices will follow shortly.
The game will give a name Ys VI Mobile and in addition to the classic Ys game experience, get several new online multiplayer features such as raiding together or boss battles, but it can also just be grown together.
Of course, Adol Christin will be played again, and he will be joined by a few additional characters from the Ys universe, who come with five main classes and nine subclasses. In addition, the game should offer romantic options up to in-game weddings. Pets should of course not be missing in an MMORPG.
The open beta starts on May 6, but only in Southeast Asia† Whether there will ever be a western release remains to be seen. There is a new pre-registration trailer for the upcoming beta:
