Crunchyroll and Toei Animation announced that: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero will hit theaters later this year. The theatrical release date is summer 2022.
Toei Animation’s film was initially delayed in Japan after the animation studio suffered a hacker attack. The new date for Japan is now set for June 11, 2022.
It is Crunchyroll’s first real theatrical release in North America. Crunchyroll Film Distribution, which is owned by Crunchyroll GmbH, is responsible for the German-speaking countries. The film will be released in the original Japanese with subtitles and in several dubbed versions.
Dragon Ball father Akira Toriyama is the author in charge of the plot and of course he takes care of the character design as well. Tetsurou Kodama, who worked on the latest film in the Dragon Ball Super franchise, Dragon Ball Super: Broly, will take over the director’s seat. Broly had grossed more than $120 million worldwide.
