Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the Twitter acquisition deal is temporarily suspended due to the fake accounts.

Twitter estimated that fake or spam accounts represented less than 5% of monetized daily active users during the first quarter.

The social media company had 229 million users who served ads in the first quarter.

This revelation came just days after Musk, who signed a $ 44 billion deal to buy Twitter, tweeted that one of his priorities would be to remove spam bots from the platform.
