Somehow it never really gets quiet about Final Fantasy IX. Reason enough for fans of the game to keep hoping for a possible remake. Not least because of the Nvidia leaks. But do you remember anime? It was announced, somewhat formally, in June 2021.
Now it gets serious! Bruno Danzel d’Aumont, vice president of international licensing and marketing at Cyber Group Studios, told Animation Magazine. CyberGroup Studios is collaborating with Square Enix on the series. It will be one of four new presentations at the Expo.
The Expo will take place from May 24 to 26, 2022. The Final Fantasy IX anime will then be in production for a few months. The same is said to have started in late 2021 or early 2022. Details on the number or length of the episodes are not yet available.
“The Expo is a great opportunity to share our upcoming plans with our licensees, agents and new partners,” said d’Aumont quoted† “Our most recently developed series – Digital Girl, The McFire Family, Press Start and Final Fantasy IX – will also be presented for the first time. These four new series have a strong licensing appeal for different age groups,” he added.
Square Enix has certainly not forgotten Final Fantasy IX. There have been other ports in recent years, including for PC Steam and Nintendo Switch. And in these days a release of the soundtrack on vinyl was also announced.
