There was more good news on the sidelines of the new trailer during yesterday’s State of Play Final Fantasy XVI† That’s how the details are judged by many fans in any case. Square Enix leads the development team by name presented and many fans are very satisfied with the personal details.

Above all there is of course Naoki Yoshida, who many fans could well envision as the producer of the new main game in the series, even before its announcement. He stands by his side as the main director Hiroshi Takaiwe already knew that.

Two personal details that astute observers have already heard have now been officially confirmed. Michael-Christopher Koji Fox is localization director and Kazuya Takahashi is responsible for character design. Koji Fox was the main translator for Final Fantasy XIV for a long time. Many fans are also attracted to Takahashi’s style.

Steps as a Combat Director Ryota Suzuki appearance and that too is a personality that has been visible for a long time. As early as 2020, it was announced that Suzuki would move from Capcom to Square Enix to oversee an AAA project there. So it’s Final Fantasy XVI.

Ryota Suzuki was not only the lead game designer for Dragon’s Dogma and the lead game designer for Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, but also contributed to the stylish action title Devil May Cry 5. Suzuki also supported the developers of Monster Hunter: World and the Iceborne expansion. A clear indication of where Final Fantasy XVI’s gameplay is headed – and that was already indicated in the new trailer.

Also art director Hiroshi Minagawa is anything but an unknown. He represents the art design of games such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story. His most popular work, which also reflects his unmistakable style, was certainly Final Fantasy XII. Like many of his peers, Minagawa has spent the past few years working on Final Fantasy XIV.

is relatively unknown in comparison Kazutoyo Maehiro, who will serve as Creative Director of Final Fantasy XVI. He was the screenwriter for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and certainly knows Minagawa very well, having been involved in Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy Tactics as a level designer and event planner.

Last but not least there is Masayoshi Soken, who has now been confirmed as the composer of Final Fantasy XVI. He is the main composer and sound director of Final Fantasy XIV and its expansions. Before that, he had less to do with Final Fantasy but with Drakengard 3.

Naoki Yoshida gathered a great team there, didn’t they? We will find out the result in the summer of 2023. Then Final Fantasy XVI will be released worldwide for PlayStation 5.
