The 90s RPG SacriFire from Pixelated Milk (Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs) is back with a new trailer. Once successful on Kickstarter, The funded project is making waves with pixel graphics and music by Motoi Sakuraba, whose music you’re most familiar with from the Tales of series.
Unfortunately, you also have to pass on postponement. SacriFire won’t be released until next year, first for PCs (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG) and later for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.
This is SacriFire
SacriFire has been getting a lot of attention in the JRPG scene since its announcement. Not just because it looks visually promising and exudes something like HD2D flair. The presentation combines pixel art with 3D graphics, retro charm and hand-drawn characters. The combat system is turn-based, true to the templates. However, it also includes real-time elements, meant to be challenging and satisfying.
According to the developers themselves, they grew up with JRPGs and want to bring the best of these games, including Vagrant Story and Xenogears, to SacriFire. They want to tell the morally complex story of two worlds, the sprawling underground city of Antioch and the idyllic ghost paradise of Erebus.
