Square Enix Presents Final Fantasy VII Remake Revisited and Provides Insights into Design Processes

Final Fantasy VII celebrates its 25th anniversary and as part of the celebrations we look back Final Fantasy VII Remakewhich is now over two years old.

The Square Enix Blog polled the developers about Chapter 1, so it’s all about the start-of-game mission in Reactor 1. And there’s actually a lot to talk about. From train timetables to station posters to the scope of the script. Of course, the legendary timer and the wax scorpion also play a role.

The questions are answered by the experts in the field, be it environmental artist Mizushi Sugawara, battle director Teruki Endo or sometimes co-director Naoki Hamaguchi.

For example, about the many posters at the train station, Sugawara says: “I made these together with many other designers. Some of the posters appear to be intended to enhance the public image of the Shinra Company, but there are also less meaningful examples.”

“We incorporated some unique FF references and Shinra ads into the products to further perfect the illusion in the game’s world. There were quite a few designs that were rejected for being too close to advertising for real ones. companies,” continues Mizushi Sugawara.
