The 30th Anniversary Pack for Destiny 2 is now available for free on the Epic Games Store.

The Witch Queen is the best campaign Destiny has ever had, making Destiny 2 the best shooter of the year so far. Now everyone can try it for themselves. During its Lightfall show today, Bungie said that the Witch Queen and all other Destiny 2 additions will be free until August 30.

This includes Witch Queen, which normally costs $40, Shadowkeep, which comes out in 2019, and Beyond Light, which comes out in 2020. Destiny 2 is technically a free-to-play game, but in reality, it only applies to a very small part. Each new expansion adds new story missions, locations, and activities that can only be accessed by paying for DLC. Luckily, those gates are going away on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Series X/S, and PC for at least the next week.

Even though Shadowkeep and Beyond Light are both good, Witch Queen is on a whole different level. The main campaign has a mode called “Legendary,” which plays like a classic Bungie shooter. It has clever level design, jaw-dropping visuals, and high-stakes, tense gunfights. Even if you don’t want to grind for gear or do anything else in Destiny 2’s confusing live-service sandbox, Witch Queen is still worth playing. It even has checkpoints for a mission.

It tells the story of Savathûn, an alien god of mischief who invites you into her magical Throne World to find out the secret of her power and the betrayal that made her into a boss queen. One minute you’re climbing gothic cathedrals in France, and the next, you’re finding your way through a mysterious maze inside a huge black pyramid on the icy moon Europa. It has a mix of light puzzles and platforming, but what really makes it stand out are the beautiful environments and great shooting.

You won’t lose any of your progress when the free trial ends, and anything you earn will carry over to the parts of Destiny 2 that you can play for free if you decide to keep going. Today was also the start of Season of the Plunder, and Destiny’s best raid, King’s Fall, came back and is now part of the free base game. And anyone who starts playing on PC through the Epic Games Store will also get free access to the Bungie 30th Anniversary expansion, which is an unofficial crossover with Halo about a game show hosted by an equestrian space ghost.

Most of the time, though, a free week of all of Destiny 2’s expansions is good news for people who already own everything in the game. That’s because their friends no longer have any reason not to play with them.
