Publisher Atari and developers Adamvision Studios and SneakyBox have Yars: Charged issued. The shoot ’em up is available for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PCs and Atari VCS, check out the launch trailer below.
A daring attack on the hostile homeworld, guarded by mechanical beehives that fire deadly cannons and eject whirling missiles. Shoot from afar to find safe spots in the hail of incoming fire, then dash forward in daring dashes to nibble at enemy defenses.
With Yars: Recharged, Atari also brings an age-old brand back to life. The game is based on Howard Scott Warshaw’s classic Yars’ Revenge, released in 1982 for the Atari 2600. Wikipedia calls it Atari’s best-selling game for the old console. 40 years ago.
There have been a few reissues of the game, such as in a 3-in-1 Game Boy Advance cartridge. Even remakes and a sequel for the Atari Flashback 2. Let’s see what Atari has in store for Yars in the future as they develop a brand new game.
