“Fortnite” Season 4 is now live Here’s Everything New Including Map Changes, Battle Pass, Trailer And More

New Weapons + Returning Weapons

Chapter 3 of Season 4 of Fortnite is now live after a five-hour break. The servers are back up and running, and players are jumping off the Battle Bus to fight on a map that has been changed significantly.

Season 4 is called “Paradise,” an odd name for a season that takes place over Halloween and is about a mysterious substance called Chrome that eats everything. Here’s all the information you need.

Chrome Paradise

We’ll start with the story trailer, which tells us about Chrome, a strange new metallic liquid that has started eating the map and the Seven, and Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), who plays The Paradigm:

At the end of the trailer, we meet a mysterious bad guy with red hair called The Herald:

Chrome will be very important this season. You can turn yourself and structures into Chrome and walk through Chrome walls, which you can build in enemy structures to make them easier to get through.

When you turn into Chrome, you can’t be hurt by fire or fall for a short time; when you sprint, you turn into a blob of Chrome. You can also air dash, which lets you pass through walls. If you’re not Chrome, you can pass through a Chrome wall, but if you are Chrome, you can pass through any structure.

New Weapons + Returning Weapons

In Season 4, two new weapons have been added. Both are based on Chrome, which is not a big surprise.

Returning and Unvaulted Weapons:

  • Sidearm Pistol
  • Prime Shotgun
  • Lever Action Shotgun
  • Rapid Fire SMG
  • Suppressed Submachine Gun
  • Ranger Assault Rifle

  • Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR)

  • Shadow Tracker (Exotic weapon)
  • The Dub (Exotic weapon)
  • Boom Sniper Rifle (Exotic weapon)
  • Boogie Bomb (technically not a weapon but sounds like one)
  • Shockwave Grenade (also technically not a weapon but here it is)

Sniper Rifles have gotten a buff as well, making the long game a lot more viable this season:

  • Hunter Bolt-Action Sniper – damage and headshot multiplier increased
  • Hunting Rifle – damage and headshot multiplier increased
  • Automatic Sniper Rifle – damage and headshot multiplier increased
  • Lever Action Rifle – damage and headshot multiplier increased
  • Suppressed Sniper Rifle – damage increased
  • Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle – damage increased
  • Rail Gun – damage increased
  • Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle – damage increased

  • Storm Scout Sniper Rifle – headshot multiplier increased
  • Boom Sniper Rifle – explosive damage increased

Season 4 Battle Pass

The Season 4 Battle Pass adds six new skins and one “secret” skin. Find out what these are and how to get to them right here. Once again, the Battle Pass has 100 tiers of content that can be unlocked with Battle Stars. This content includes Gliders, sprays, emotes, Pickaxes, and a lot more.

New Map + Map Changes

Cloudy Condos are now floating above Condo Canyon. Launchers (D-Launchers) can be used to quickly and easily reach the floating platforms (or build).

The other major new Point Of Interest is the Herald’s Sanctum:

The new map looks like this. You can tell it’s getting closer to fall, and we now have four pretty different types of environments: snowy winter, green fields, a desert, and an autumn biome.

New things have been added to the game, like the Chrome Splash, which can turn you or the walls into Chrome. There are now also Vaults that you can open with Keys you find in chests and other places around the map. Low-Security Vaults only need one key to open, while High-Security Vaults need two keys and have better loot. The map will show you where the Vaults are when you find a key. Sadly, Epic Games no longer makes this kind of thing a real challenge.

Epic Games has also added a new move called “slide-kick,” challenges for Season 4, and several other changes to gameplay and balance.

That’s just about it! Young padawans, good luck getting your Victory Royales! I hope to see you in heaven!
