D3 publisher and developer Sandlot used the Tokyo Game Show to announce the long-heralded Switch port of Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair to date. December 22 is the time in Japan for now. It is a highly expanded version of Earth Defense Force 4, which was released in the West as Earth Defense Force 2025.
This marks the third round of the switch’s retro offensive across the EDF cosmos. Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space was the first. Earth Defense Force 2017, the third installment in the series, followed in October 2021 in Japan.
Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair is already available in Germany for PlayStation 4 and Steam. The Switch port has not yet been announced in the west.
