Battle Director wants to “revise the system as a whole”

In Final Fantasy VII Remake Revisited, the developers spent months discussing various design and decision-making processes in creating Final Fantasy VII Remake. The experts in their respective fields have their say.

The last article is about the rope gun in chapter 15, which in the original would be a tribute to the swinging pole. Around collapsing buildings and stones on steel girders. It’s about the details, but also about the big picture, for example the combat system.

When asked about the dogfights in this chapter, Battle Director Teruki Endo admits that he would have liked to have done things differently. Is there anything the team would do differently if given the chance to redo the combat system? That’s the question for Endo.

“There is something that really shocked us. We wanted to do this so that even the players who aren’t very good at action games can still fight fairly easily. But I think some issues have not been addressed here,” admits Endo retrospective.

“I’d like to overhaul the system as a whole so that it’s always possible for the characters to fight in the air to some degree, like Yuffie can,” continued Teruki Endo. Maybe he is also involved in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and can implement his ideas here.
