In Final Fantasy VII Remake Revisited, the developers discuss various decision-making and design processes of working on the Final Fantasy VII Remake. The experts in their respective fields have their say. The newest output Chapter 16 of the game is devoted to the “visit” to Shinra’s headquarters.

Surely you have noticed the old photo that you may come across. An ancient Shinra troop can be seen and in the center Shinra literally beams at us with his mask, which is reminiscent of the character from Final Fantasy X-2. He’s just grown a lot.

It is already handed downthat this is actually also a reference to Final Fantasy X-2 a must. This is evident from the “Secrets” chapter of Final Fantasy VII Remake Ultimania. But: Is that really Shinra?

Surely the photo of Shinra also fuels a popular fan theory that Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X are set in the same universe. the Gaia Spira Connection. “But it could also just be a souvenir photo of one of the employees who cosplays it,” continues Toriyama.

Not a particularly satisfactory answer, which rather raises more questions. But probably fans shouldn’t exaggerate the matter too much. There are always things hidden in Final Fantasy VII Remake that should be reminiscent of the original or obviously other games in the series.

Easter eggs, you should probably understand them as such. Final Fantasy VII Remake takes fan service very seriously. In that regard, we can also look forward to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part of the remake trilogy.
