According to Sony: PS5 Price Increase Hasn’t Affected High Demand

According to Sony, the PS5’s demand has not been impacted by the console’s recent price increase. Hiroki Totoki, the company’s chief financial officer, said Sony would have enough inventory to meet demand during the upcoming holiday season during the company’s Q2 2022 earnings call. “So far, the price increase has not dampened demand, but we must continue to watch what happens in the market moving forward.”

According to Sony PS5 Price Increase Hasn't Affected High Demand

Sony increased the price of a PS5 system by 30/€50/5,000 yen in late August, but the cost in the USA remained the same. In light of the current state of the world economy and how it affects SIE’s business, the company claimed that the increase was “necessary.” However, it emphasized that more units on the market would help the PS5 Stock situation.

As Christmas draws near, Sony claims to have 6.5 million PS5 consoles ready for the busy holiday shopping season. If it wants to ship 18 million systems during the current fiscal year, it still has a lot of work to do.
