Twitter’s new owner Elon Musk announced in a tweet on Thursday that he has decided, based on the result of a 24-hour survey he conducted on the platform, to issue a “general pardon” for blocked accounts on his site and to reactivate them, starting “next week”.

Musk said, “The people have said their word. The general amnesty starts next week,” in response to an earlier tweet he posted Wednesday, in which he asked tweeters to answer the following question in a referendum: ” Should Twitter grant a general amnesty for suspended accounts, as long as they haven’t violated the law or sent explicit spam?”

And 72.4% of tweeters answered Musk’s question with “yes”, while 27.6% of them answered “no”.
