This year, gamers are in for an early holiday treat. Until December 1st, gamers have the opportunity to claim Star Wars: Squadrons (2020), the highly praised space combat game from EA’s Motive Studios, for free on the Epic Games Store.
Although originally designed for consoles and PCs, Star Wars: Squadrons’ VR integration enhances the experience by putting players in immersive cockpits. From the extensive single-player campaign to the thrilling 5v5 multiplayer mode, everything can be enjoyed in virtual reality.
Having received a high rating of [9/10] in our detailed review upon its release in late 2020, we were impressed with the game. It even earned our Excellence in VR Adaptation award that year alongside being one of our top games of 2020.

While there are some minor reservations, such as cinematic cutscenes being displayed in 2D, it’s hard to fault the game given its exceptional visual quality, including some of the most finely detailed character models seen in VR.
Multiplayer activity has seen a slight decline recently, but with the game being available for free on the Epic Games Store for a limited time, there’s likely to be an influx of new players revitalizing the multiplayer community.
