Five days ago, Musk alleged that Apple hated “free speech,” was “making moderation demands,” and had stopped spending on advertising. This sparked a flood of press reports about a potential conflict between Apple and Twitter. Musk stated publicly that Apple had “mostly stopped” running advertisements on Twitter and threatened to “withhold Twitter from its App Store.”

Then, two days after making those remarks, Musk met with Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, and ultimately changed his mind. Cook “was clear that Apple never considered doing so,” according to Musk, who claimed that there had been a “misunderstanding” about Twitter possibly being removed from the App Store.

Musk claimed that Cook had taken him on a tour of Apple Park and had a “good conversation,” during which Apple decided to resume running Twitter advertisements. Apple hasn’t said anything about Musk’s remarks from today or confirmed that it has stopped buying ads on Twitter. Musk tweeted in response to the conversation about Twitter Space to “thank advertisers for returning to Twitter.”

Apple has consistently been one of Twitter’s top advertisers, and the company reportedly spends more than $100 million a year on advertising.
