This week, more than ten playtesters got the chance to spend up to six hours playing Skull & Bones by Ubisoft. While the game received a few positive remarks, most players felt it was just another ordinary game.
The playtest comes after Yves Guillemot said that the game’s original release date of March 9, 2023, will be postponed again. Why? The delay will enable “a lot more refined and balanced experience and create awareness,” according to Guillemot, who also asserts that players will be “positively surprised by its progress.”
However, according to sources, users are reportedly not pleasantly pleased by its progress. This week, invitees have even commented on my Twitter status that, despite being invited, they would not participate in the current playtest.
Due to the unfinished nature of the game, according to two creators and secondhand tales of its development, no one should be shocked if it doesn’t release until the second half of 2023, “at the earliest.” One playtester who was there for the whole week-long playtest session said that the developers addressed their worries about the absence of land warfare by saying that “they’re too far into the game to change anything drastically.”
In addition, playtesters have informed us that there are still several game-breaking problems in Skill & Bones, raising more worries. Not just playtesters share this opinion; Ubisoft has also postponed a media hands-on preview session slated for the first week of February.
Unfortunately, adding delays won’t make Skull & Bones‘ basic issues go away. However, Ubisoft has a duty to the Singaporean government. Thus the corporation must take more action.
Skull & Bones’ load now resembles a stuck anchor at the bottom of the sea. The link must be severed as quickly as possible for Ubisoft to set sail again.
