Infected first appeared in Modern Warfare 3 in 2011 and last made an appearance in Modern Warfare in 2019. The fast-paced, energizing game mode has been absent ever since. Still, Season Two, which launches on February 15, is expected to bring it back.

In Modern Warfare II, the Infected will return.

The entire community had become quite excited about Modern Warfare II getting the Infected game mode when Season Two launches in a few days thanks to a brief interaction that took place on Twitter:

Then, in a follow-up tweet, Infinity Ward provided complete confirmation.

Season Two of Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 already had a tonne of material planned. Fans are thrilled that Infected will play a significant role in that drop. It’s great to see Infinity Ward doing something properly at last!

One of the most exciting and enjoyable game modes ever added to Call of Duty is Infected. Before being taken up by Infinity Ward and developed into a full-fledged mode, it was once an idea explored in private matches.

Coincidentally, it was released on February 5, 2012, making this announcement coincide with its release to the public almost eleven years ago.

The idea is straightforward: by all means necessary, survivors must avoid contracting the disease. This frequently entails positioning themselves in a small space and mercilessly shooting many strong, upgraded adversaries who are, you got it, Infected.

On February 15, Infected will return to the Call of Duty universe and everything else that is coming. Fans anticipate Season Two for many reasons, including Resurgence’s return and the debut of a brand-new Warzone map!
