Geekbench 6 Benchmarking Suite is Now Available From Primate Labs

Geekbench 6, the latest edition of the cross-platform benchmarking tool by Primate Labs, has been officially released. Geekbench 6 supersedes its predecessor, Geekbench 5, launched in 2019. The new version offers results that better mimic real-world device performance and is compatible with new hardware standards.

Through the integration of machine learning and diverse workloads, the updated software decreases its reliance on single-threaded CPU counts. The testing datasets have been refreshed to more accurately reflect the demands of modern hardware and applications.

  • Support for high-resolution photos captured by modern smartphones (12 to 48MP)
  • Updated HTML examples in line with current web design standards
  • Expanded image library for import testing
  • Enhanced maps for navigation assessments
  • Larger and more contemporary PDF samples
  • Enhanced Clang workload

According to Primate Labs, the benchmarks now closely align with the workloads typically encountered in applications to better represent the file types users are likely to engage with in 2023. The adaptation of Geekbench 6 optimizes GPU utilization for machine learning to enable more accurate cross-platform comparisons.

The multi-core benchmarking mechanism has been refined to evaluate workload distribution across cores in real-world usage scenarios. Various new tests track users’ device utilization patterns, with updates to existing tests as well.

  • Simulated blurry backgrounds similar to those in video conferencing
  • Emulation of photo filters commonly found in modern social media applications
  • Identifying objects for AI-driven tasks
  • Importing and tagging photos along with metadata using a photo library
  • Python text processing for performing markdown and regex conversion and parsing, reflecting authentic developer use cases

Geekbench 6 is free for non-commercial personal use, and a 20% discount on the Pro version has lowered its price to $79 for the next two weeks. The Pro version includes command-line automation, offline result management, and additional functionalities. Interested users can download Geekbench 6 from the Geekbench website.
