The experimental browser Safari Technology Preview, which Apple first unveiled in March 2016, received a new update from Apple today. Apple created the Safari Technology Preview to try out features that could be included in later browser versions.

Bug fixes and speed enhancements for Web Inspector, CSS, JavaScript, ResizeObserver, Rendering, Web Animations, WebAuthn, HTTP, Media, Editing, Web API, and Safari Web Extensions are included in Safari Technical Preview release 164.

Version 16.4 of the Safari Technology Preview is currently available. It works with computers running both macOS Ventura and macOS Monterey.

Everyone who has downloaded the browser can access the Safari Technology Preview update via the Software Update feature in System Preferences or System Settings. On the website for Safari Technology Preview, you may read the update’s complete release notes.

Through the Safari Technology Preview program, Apple wants to get feedback on its browser development process from users and developers. The Safari Technology Preview browser may coexist with the default Safari browser. While intended for developers, downloading does not need a developer account.
