The Coalition is looking to grow its team and speed up the development of Gears of War.
The studio, a first-party Microsoft studio, aims to “shape the future of the IP and push the boundaries of Microsoft’s entertainment platforms and devices,” as per a recent job listing on Microsoft’s careers website.
According to the job listing, The Coalition is looking for individuals with expertise in various areas.
“We are seeking individuals with expertise in Character, Camera, and Controls (3Cs), as well as artificial intelligence (AI) systems,” the listing mentions.
“You should have experience in leading major features from initial design to finalization,” it explains. By collaborating across different disciplines, you will bring your vision to life.
It should be noted explicitly that the position is for the upcoming Gears of War game. However, considering that the Gears of War series has not yet made its official debut on the Xbox Series X|S, it can be inferred that development work is ongoing for Gears of War 6.
Gears 5, the latest title in the series, was released for the Xbox One in 2019. However, it was later optimized for the newest consoles in 2020.
Based on prior announcements by The Coalition in 2021, the next installment in the franchise is likely to be created using Unreal Engine 5.
