Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the Cyberpunk 2077 animated series from CD Projekt RED from Trigger and Netflix, won the “Anime of the Year” award at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2023, an event dedicated entirely to Japanese animated series.
For those who don’t know what it is, this award is more or less equivalent to an Oscar for movies, an Emmy for TV series, or even The Game Awards for the world of video games. To clarify, in addition to Anime of the Year, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners won only one other major award, dedicated to the best English voice acting of Zach Aguilar as David. The other anime that received the most awards at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2023 were Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, and SPY x FAMILY, which received more awards individually than Edgerunners.
