The rise to prominence of Netflix Games on Android can be attributed to the presence of many games with particularly distinctive art styles and titles. Things are looking up for the Halo Infinite brand now that the creative leader of the game has joined Netflix Games. This is true in more ways than one.
Joseph Staten, the creative head for Halo Infinite, announced that he would be leaving Microsoft early this year. According to Eurogamer, the executive’s involvement with the Halo series dates back to approximately the year 2000, when he worked as a writer and director for the cinematics of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2. In January of 2023, he resigned, and he is now working for Netflix Games as a creative director on an original AAA game intended to be played on many platforms.

Importantly, Staten’s tweet includes the word “multi-platform,” which confirms in a roundabout way that Netflix Games intends to branch out beyond the production of mobile games alone. At the beginning of this year, we got a glimpse of Netflix Games’ plans to make the games that are currently exclusively available on mobile devices accessible on TV. The company has no qualms about taking risky actions such as converting to cloud gaming despite Google Stadia’s recent departure from the sector and is currently snatching serious talent from established game makers. Therefore, it is a collaborative job. However, if Staten’s significant involvement and the Halo series exhibit capability, then Netflix Games’ first big-ticket project could be worth the wait.
