Sony’s Future Hinges on PlayStation Studios and the Decima Engine

Decima Engine is by far one of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s most important graphics engines, even used by non-PlayStation Studios development teams such as Hideo Kojima’s Kojima Productions. But according to the information that appears on the net in these hours, it seems that the amazing engine will play an increasingly important role in the future of the Japanese giant’s gaming division.

As part of the leadership reorganization of Guerrilla Games, CTO Michel van der Leeuw announced that he would be working on Decima full-time. According to PushSquare, in a LinkedIn post, van der Leeuw said that from now on, he will focus on “our ambitious future plans for our Decima engine.”

The developer also said that the Dutch development team has “drawn up the studio’s roadmap and future direction for our incredibly ambitious Decima engine,” projects that require nothing less than her full attention from now on.

Obviously, at this point we don’t know what the “future direction” of the Decima engine is, but it’s reasonable to assume that other PlayStation Studios development teams could use Guerrilla Games’ graphics engine for their own games, given the exceptional results as well. received most recently from Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores.
