PixelOpus, the part of Sony that made games like “Entwined” and “Concrete Genie,” has said that it will close. The news was posted on Twitter, and the tweet thanked players who had tried and liked the studio’s two games.
Dear friends, our PixelOpus adventure has come to an end. As we look to new futures, we wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to the millions of passionate players who have supported us, and our mission to make beautiful, imaginative games with heart.

Since the statement doesn’t give any details, we don’t know for sure what will happen to the PixelOpus developers. In 2021, the studio was hiring people to work on a third game while also working with Sony Pictures Animation on “an exciting new PlayStation 5 title” that would run on Unreal Engine 5 (via VGC).
With this news, it’s not clear if the game is still being made or if players will even get to see what it looks like. It’s possible that another team took over to work on the project, but for now, all we can do is wait for an official word on the subject.
