Arnold Schwarzenegger always tells us that he’ll be back, and lo and behold, he’s back like we’ve never seen him before with FUBAR (2023-), which will be the action star’s first-ever television series. Whether you like action movies or not, you’ve probably heard of the former governor of California, who used to be a wrestler and then became a big-time movie star. Schwarzenegger has been in some of the best movies of all time, including Commando (1985), Predator (1987), True Lies (1994), and, of course, all of the Terminator movies since 1984.

FUBAR

Arnold Schwarzenegger has made money at the box office and has a well-deserved image as an international movie star. Now, he wants to try something new: streaming TV. Even though fans of “The Governator” might find it hard to believe, Arnold Schwarzenegger has never been the main character in a TV show in his entire fifty-year career. He has only had cameos and special roles. Until now, that is.

Schwarzenegger is now working with Netflix to make FUBAR, a new super spy show that brings the famous actor back to the world of action-comedy movies. In this movie, Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a CIA agent who plans to retire but has to take on a new job that is too close to home for him and his family. FUBAR is one of the most-anticipated new action shows of the year. A talented group and team of writers will lead Arnold’s next adventure. Here is everything we know about FUBAR, which could be the next big hit on Netflix.

Who is the Director of God Is a Bullet?

Nick Santora is the person who made FUBAR. He has much experience making action-packed stories for TV. Santora’s work as a screenwriter began with The Sopranos (1999–2007). Since then, he has written for Prison Break (2005–2017), Scorpion (2014–2018), Most Dangerous Game (2020), and most recently, Reacher (2012–). The list of directors for each episode hasn’t been announced yet, but Phil Abraham will be in charge of at least one episode. He has worked with Santora on Most Dangerous Game and directed episodes of Ozark (2017–2022) and Daredevil (2015–2018). Santora, Abraham, and Schwarzenegger are also making the show.

What Is the Release Date of FUBAR?

Arnold Schwarzenegger will return for good when FUBAR comes out on Netflix on Thursday, May 25, 2023. Netflix is likely to stay true to its binge-watching roots by simultaneously putting out all eight episodes of FUBAR’s first season on May 25. This means the whole show will be available to watch on that date.

Watch the Trailer for FUBAR

On February 27, 2023, Netflix released the first teaser video for FUBAR. It’s a teaser in every sense of the word. The first look at FUBAR, which is less than 30 seconds long, has many things that scream Arnold Schwarzenegger—using guns, setting things on fire, and smoking Stogie cigars. All of these images are in the first clip for FUBAR. After that, Schwarzenegger’s famous line from The Terminator (1984), “I’ll be back,” is used in a new way. The teaser ends with a short funny exchange between the character Luke Brunner, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, and his friend Roo, played by Fortune Feimster.

Netflix released the full trailer for FUBAR on April 19, 2023. The trailer finds Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Luke Brunner on the verge of retirement at 65. Still, when he is sent on a mission to bring home a rogue operative, he is bewildered to learn that this operative just so happens to be his daughter. With plenty of explosions, fights, and quips, the full trailer definitely gives some major True Lies vibes.

What Is the Plot of FUBAR?

The official plot synopsis for FUBAR reads as follows:

A father and daughter have both been working as CIA Operatives for years, but each kept their involvement in the CIA hidden from the other, resulting in their entire relationship being a gigantic lie. Upon learning of each other’s involvement in the CIA, the pair are forced to work together as partners, and against the backdrop of explosive action, and espionage, learn who each other really are.

From that summary, FUBAR sounds like a fun take on one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s other movies, True Lies. In that movie, Schwarzenegger also played a government operative who hid the fact that he was a secret agent from the rest of his family. However, when he thinks his wife (Jamie Lee Curtis) is cheating on him and his family gets caught up in a terrorist plan, he must tell his family the truth. Overall, FUBAR sounds like it will have a similar plot, but there will be a twist: Monica Barbaro is likely to play Luke Brunner’s daughter, who is also a spy and has kept that a secret from her family. Now that the father and daughter must work together, there will be family drama and funny hijinks.
