Even though the movie is still breaking box office records worldwide and playing in several IMAX theaters, becoming the highest-grossing installment in the series history, the digital release date for John Wick: Chapter 4 has been set for May 23. The release date for the Blu-ray combo pack, DVD, on-demand streaming, and 4K Ultra HD combination pack of the movie has been planned for June 13.
The film, the fourth entry in the franchise and directed by Chad Stahelski, was released in 2014. It all started with the film John Wick, released in 2014, followed by chapters 2 and 3, released in 2017 and 2019, respectively. In March of this year, its most recent attempt was released in theaters. The series, which Keanu Reeves front, tells the story of a former hitman who is still very deadly and on a vengeance mission against the criminal underworld. When John Wick: Chapter 4 was released into theaters earlier this year, it immediately became the series’ highest-grossing and most-acclaimed edition. The film is closing in on a gross of one billion dollars at the international box office and has an exceptionally impressive 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The picture’s success is expected to pave the way for many spin-offs, the first of which will be titled The Ballerina and feature Ana De Armas. It will take place in the time period between John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4. The premiere of that movie is scheduled for June 2024. Writer Shay Hatten has revealed that the character would at least be appearing in “a good chunk” of the spin-off, explaining that he was filming on set for “about a week” and referring to him as “a real character” as opposed to a glorified cameo. Although there has not been an official announcement either way regarding whether there will be a John Wick: Chapter 5 as of the current time, it has been revealed that the character would at least be appearing in ”
Along with his The Matrix co-star Laurence Fishburne as Bowery King, George Georgiou as The Elder, the late Lance Reddick as Charon, Clancy Brown as Harbinger, Ian McShane as Winston, Marko Zaror as Chidi, Bill Skarsgard as Marquis, Donnie Yen as Caine, and Aimée Kwan as Mia, Reeves portrays the title character in the movie. In the role of Akira, popular singer-turned-actress Rina Sawayama gave a career-defining performance in the movie. The screenplay for the movie was written by Shay Hatten, Michael Finch, and Derek Kolstad, and Stahelski directed it. In addition to Reeves and Stahelski, Christoph Fisser, Basil Iwanyk, Ilene Kim, Erica Lee, David Leitch, Henning Molfenter, Michael Paseornek, Louise Rosner, and Charlie Woebcken were involved in its production.
Although John Wick: Chapter 4 will be available on video on demand (VOD) later this month, the film’s official release date has yet to be set for when it will be available on streaming services. The first three installments in the franchise can be purchased and viewed on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video, respectively.
