Ahsoka made her first appearance for the very first time in the animated series The Clone Wars when she was portrayed by Ashley Eckstein and given the role of Anakin Skywalker’s newest padawan. Matt Lanter narrated the series. The youthful apprentice developed into a mature and strong hero over the course of many years. Yet, he chose not to adhere to the ideals of the Jedi owing to the corruption that was ultimately responsible for their demise. Thankfully, her abilities protected her during the Jedi Purge and allowed her to stay hidden from Darth Vader’s stormtroopers and other enemies for a sufficient amount of time to survive the Battle of Yavin. It was high time for the character to make their comeback after Disney+ permitted Lucasfilm to produce Star Wars television shows.

Dawson made her debut in character during the second season of The Mandalorian when she met Din Djarin (played by Pedro Pascal) for the first time. At the time, Djarin searched for a Jedi to teach his child. She read the infant’s mind to search through his memories, which is how she learned that the child’s name was Grogu. The confrontation would pave the way for a new friendship between the Mandalorian warrior and the former Jedi, cementing that they could rely on one another without fail whenever they were in peril. And because they have both interacted with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in the past, a heroic squad could be put together if a significant danger intended to take control of the galaxy.

In addition to extending the timeframe of The Mandalorian, Ahsoka’s show will also serve another purpose: it will continue the story threads left open at the end of Star Wars: Rebels. Since the decisive battle between him and Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), during which they both vanished into lightspeed while trapped within a collapsing ship, Ezra (Eman Esfandi) has not been seen or heard from. Since then, Ahsoka has been seeking the new threat to obtain information regarding Ezra’s possible whereabouts. It will be up to the former Jedi and her allies to prevent the rebirth of the Empire before it makes another effort to rule the galaxy.
