The bubbly teen romance comedy To All the Boy I’ve Loved Before was an instant hit. It swiftly became a mini-phenomenon in the world of pop culture. The story of Lara Jean (played by Lana Condor), a high school student who enters into a phony affair with one of her previous admirers, won the hearts of moviegoers and became one of the streaming service’s most-watched original movies. The story is based on Han’s novels. Lana Condor portrayed Lara Jean. Soon after, there were two sequels released.

Han has decided to continue the story of the Song-Covey family through the perspective of Lara Jean’s younger sister, Kitty. This occurs even though Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky have found their happily ever after. The novel XO, the Kitty, is not based on any of Han’s previous works. Han is in charge of her universe, in addition to the roles of co-writer and executive producer, as she was in the role of showrunner for the Amazon adaptation of her other bestselling young adult novel, The Summer I Turned Pretty.

What is the Plot of XO, Kitty?

'XO, Kitty'_

It should come as no surprise that one of my most anticipated releases this year is a show exclusively dedicated to Kitty and her search for love. If we are being honest, we have seen Kitty grow up from a 9-year-old matchmaker to an even wittier teenager, and now to have a program that is solely dedicated to her and her search for love, it should come as no surprise that it is one of my most anticipated releases. The events of XO, Kitty take place a few years after the conclusion of Always and Forever, the third book in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series. In this book, we are first introduced to Kitty’s super adorable love interest Dae. During their vacation with their family to Seoul over spring break, Kitty requests a charming stranger to take a picture of their group. She is so emotionally overcome that she stutters through the introductions as Kitty and Dae have the cutest possible first encounter. Even though the movie focused less on their connection, XO, Kitty will make up for that in a big way. This will come as a great relief to many.

Four years have passed since our last encounter with the youngest Song Covey sister. Since then, there have been some shifts in the status quo. Kitty’s primary character energy mostly causes the brightest glow-up. Kitty is excited to imprint on the world, so she has decided to leave her home in Portland, Oregon, and relocate to Seoul, South Korea, to attend KISS, the Korean Independent School of Seoul, also Kitty’s mother’s alma mater. And as luck would have it, Dae, Kitty’s long-term boyfriend, who they see only occasionally due to their distance apart, is also enrolled at KISS. But things are more complex for our favorite love guru than they once were, especially regarding issues that pertain to one’s emotional well-being.

The plot is summed up as follows:

Kitty Song Covey, a teenage matchmaker, is convinced that she knows everything there is to know about romantic relationships. But when she moves halfway across the world to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend, she will quickly learn that relationships are far more complicated when your heart is on the line.
