It was reported earlier today that more than 50 million copies of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have been sold since the Game’s original release in 2015. The Game, which has been honored with over two hundred different Game of the Year honors, recently celebrated its eighth anniversary a few days ago. Nevertheless, the franchise is only getting started in many different ways.
An ambitious plan in the works goes well beyond the goal of selling 50 million copies of The Witcher 3. The development of an all-new Witcher tale, in addition to a multiplayer game and a single-player open-world RPG’ that is also tied to the universe, was announced by CD Projekt a year ago. These games will all be connected to the Witcher universe.
But for the time being, The Witcher 3 has the crown.
A Remarkable Accomplishment
Over the course of the past eight years and some change, it has been a matter of throwing pennies at witches. Let’s use the numbers handed down in a comprehensive strategy presentation CD Projekt disseminated last year. If this is the case, then The Witcher 3 alone is responsible for around 77% of all revenue generated by The Witcher franchise.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still quite popular even though it was released several years ago and is often considered one of the best video games of the previous generation.
Let’s take Steam as an example of something representative. In 2010, the number of people playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt simultaneously on Steam reached its highest point. The number of active users reached a high of 16,761 in the preceding twenty-four hours. According to all available information, that is a stunning number, proving that The Witcher 3 is still tremendously popular.
Because of this, didn’t they make 50 million sales?
