Final Fantasy XVI Producer Hints at Possible DLC
Introduction
Final Fantasy XVI Producer Naoki Yoshida has once again touched on the prospect of DLC, saying that while nothing has been confirmed yet, it may consider new content for the game if it receives enough positive feedback from players.
DLC Possibility
Yoshida-san and director Hiroshi Takai previously revealed that DLC wasn’t planned at this point, although the possibility to expand on the game world is possible if there is enough interest. Now, speaking with ASCII, Yoshi-P has addressed the situation once more:
First of all, we will release the main game, and if we receive positive feedback, we will consider doing something about it. We have developed this work with the aim of making it a volume that you can enjoy 100% of the story and battle content if you purchase the package.
Release Details
Final Fantasy XVI is scheduled for release on June 22, 2023 for PS5, and so far there’s no plans for a Day One Patch. Square Enix has revealed that it will release a playable demo of the game ahead of launch, and a listing has already appeared for it on the PlayStation Store.
Game’s Mature Rating
Elsewhere, Yoshida explained the reasoning behind the game’s Mature rating, stating that not only are games more realistic nowadays, but regulations are far stricter.
Conclusion
While nothing is set in stone, the possibility of Final Fantasy XVI DLC is not out of the question. Fans will have to wait and see how the game is received upon its June 2023 release to find out if Square Enix will decide to expand on the world of FF16.
