Hypnotic, the latest action thriller directed by Robert Rodriguez and released in theaters only a few weeks ago after being in the works for more than 20 years, is now available on Digital on all of the main streaming platforms. Hypnotic was released in theaters after being in the works for over 20 years. Ben Affleck, fresh off his most recent venture into directing and playing in the story “Air,” which was inspired by Michael Jordan, acts as the main character in this Michael Jordan-inspired action drama.
Affleck is returning to a genre he is quite familiar with, playing the part of a skilled detective (not Batman) who is under pressure to solve a mystery while facing a psychiatric breakdown, all while in a race against time. Daniel Rourke, played by Affleck, is a tired, compulsive, and get-to-the-root type of detective who suddenly and under strange circumstances loses his daughter. Daniel goes to greater lengths in his investigation because he has suffered a loss and is eager to learn the truth. Soon after, he unearths a previously unknown universe inhabited by psychics endowed with abilities that allow them to influence the world around them.
Produced through Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios, the film also features Guy Daniella, Rodriguez’s son Racer Rodriguez, Mark Gill and Lisa Ellzey for Solstice, and Jeff Robinov and John Graham for Studio 8 as additional producers. Hala Finley (We Can Be Heroes), who plays Daniel Rourke’s daughter and serves as the protagonist’s inspiration in this suspense film, is working with Ben Affleck as a cast member on the set of this thriller. In the movie I Am Legend and The Suicide Squad, Alice Braga portrays the seductive Diana Cruz, a character on the run from the ruling elite in this hidden society. J. D. Pardo (Mayans M.C. ), Dayo Okeniyi (The Hunger Games), Jeff Fahey (Lost), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), and William Fichtner (Prison Break, Invasion) are also a part of the ensemble cast. The screenplay for the movie on the Rodriguez family was written by a father and son team.
Robert Rodriguez Counts “Hypnotic” Among His All-Time Favorite Stories to Tell
The road that led Hypnotic to the big screen was paved with hard work and dedication. The director Robert Rodriguez stated that “one of his favorite stories” inspired the first draft of the screenplay he wrote in 2002. The critically acclaimed 2019 picture Alita: Battle Angel was director Robert Rodriguez’s most recent theatrical release. Hypnotic has finally been made available after enduring and prevailing through the COVID-19 lockdowns while involving his family in his most recent creation.
