To enhance the excitement and increase user engagement, Shiravune recently conducted an interview with Tsutomu Washimi, who leads development at Aquaplus’ Tokyo studio and is the director of the Dungeon Travelers series. Washimi spoke about the development history of the Dungeon Travelers series and its success, including the challenges they faced in balancing game parameters and the essence of dungeon crawlers that make the games much more appealing.
Washimi explained how the first game, Dungeon Travelers: To Heart 2 in Another World, was born from a spinoff title to To Heart 2, and how positive feedback from fans drove the development of Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library & the Monster Seal.
Regarding Dungeon Travelers 2-2: The Fallen Maiden & the Book of Beginnings, Washimi revealed that the development team decided to start the story with Fried and his team of characters falling to the darkness to create a new point of departure. Finally, Washimi talked about the game balance and how they focused on enhancing the gameplay mechanics while maintaining the tension of delving deeper into the dungeon.
