Even though the Phantom Liberty addition for Cyberpunk 2077 has yet to be launched, preparations are still for a sequel to the 2020 role-playing game.
CD Projekt Red is reportedly beginning to (slowly) get things going on the franchise’s next iteration, according to a story published by a Spanish gaming outlet called Vandal.
The game, which will be a direct sequel to the previous game and is now known as Project Orion (which was mentioned initially by the company the previous year), will use the same engine as the first game. The report states that it will be produced in the United States by a team of “350-500 developers,” while the Polish team will assist in developing certain aspects of the product.
After they finish their work on Phantom Liberty, the team of developers working on it will go over to working on the next game. Some developers will go over to work on The Witcher franchise instead.
It was stated that the game would enter the research phase in the year 2024, which brings up the question of when production on the game will begin in earnest.
“We believe production will commence in studios at the beginning of the year 2024. On the other hand, we already have some costs associated with Project Orion and Project Hader, which are reflected in the green portion of the budget. The studio mentioned this during its most recent earnings conference. “However, once the studio is set up and begins operating in 2024, the green bar should increase,” the studio added.
For the benefit of those who have forgotten, Project Hader is a brand-new independent intellectual property currently being developed by CD Projekt Red.
It is anticipated that Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty will be launched in the not-too-distant future, and the developer will be organizing a globe tour beginning in June.
